Working as an event designer is very different from 2D design. Not only are you visualizing for a 3D space, but you have to take into account the logistics of how a crowd of people move and interact throughout that space.
And of course, you don't just want them to have a nice area to celebrate in- you want to create a space that they can feel moved in.
Jessica was a gorgeous bride to work with, inside and out.
She envisioned a fresh Summer wedding in shades of rose gold with dusty rose florals. For this event, I designed the ceremony backdrop and layout in the botanical gardens. I coordinated with a second venue for the reception and designed an event layout that would accommodate 2 large food trucks for guests to enjoy. All of the displays and backdrops were my design, directed by the dreams of the bride. Additionally I designed and created custom vinyl signage to welcome and direct guests, and for displays on the dessert, cake and guestbook displays.
As an event designer, I led a team in execution of the setup and take-down of the event. Our goal is to shoulder the details of the event so that the couple can live in the moment and enjoy a beautiful day without having to sweat the small stuff.
What was tricky about this event?
The wind! We tethered the backdrops to keep them from being blown away.
Another challenge was making an open space feel intimate and secure. With 2 access points to a large parking lot, I had to coordinate with the reception venue to construct barriers that would keep this celebration private and limit access exclusively to invited guests.
This wedding was a wonderful event to work on, and on every level we had an amazing team of vendors and family to execute this stunning event.
Congratulations to Jessica and Nick!
